I'd love to hear more about the people that are unassociated. Are there people who lack a domain's affiliation altogether? How are they treated by deities and those that serve them? Is such a thing common, or a truly rare occurrence?

These people are actually the most common. While being a citizen of a nation makes you obligated to uphold its domain, it doesn’t mean you’re linked to the domain on a deeper level.

Aspects of a nation, those who are actually linked to the domain, are usually higher-tier members of the military, nobles, members of the government who are specifically in charge of keeping the domain of the area in check, and researchers (Typically Alchemists).

The average citizen isn’t as in-tune with the idea of domains either, but does believe that their protectors are powered by this mysterious astrology. They get to see these miracles called songs up close often enough. Some really get into the belief in their nation’s domain as a source of faith, some are less interested and just try to live out their lives knowing their country protects them.

What is there in the way of large scale politics? Are there any associated nations, and how does nationality play out when there are deities in the picture?

In the age of lords, the nations are run by major deities. They range from small lands of connected towns, to entire countries that span continents. Typically a deity will appoint one of their more trusted and charismatic aspects as a figurehead leader to deal with the matters of the people.

Are domains created and destroyed, or are they omnipresent as a sort of abstraction? Is there a god for every domain?

Domains can be destroyed, mainly through an opposing domain becoming far too powerful and throwing the balance between them way off till one simply ceases to exist. This has happened in the history of Eskero few times but has had huge effects on it. The most infamous being the destruction of the land domains, blanketing the world in a complete sea. Another was a destruction of the sun domains, creating a perpetual night.

Domains then aren’t truly created, but rather revived, or changed from an original domain to such a degree that they seem like a new domain, and thus influence the world in a new way. This is seen in the domain of feathers, where the deity ate his brother, the deity of flight and changed the composition of feathers to grant flight just by possessing one.

Usurper dragon of Beasts
Here’s the finished dragon from the ask. She’s the sin of the lands. As the Goddess of beasts had control over the prey, and predator, Usurper filled the gap in the cycle, who reclaimed the flesh of the beasts who took from the land. Not really a malevolent dragon, she is a viciously just creature who bestows, denies, and claims what she will from the domain of beasts.

on the subject of dragons, do they all look like the one you've shown? if not, what sort of differences identify particular individuals?

image

They all have their own flare to them depending on which deity they formed from and the individual sin they represent.

As I said, the main theme that they have is that they’re serpentine with limbs and two mouths, one belonging to a humanoid face with horns.

How many limbs they have though, what those limbs are, what their face looks like, what sort of horns they have, everything else about them differs.

I decided to knock out two birds with one stone and do some art for the talented and cool Arijandro while doing some long due Attack on Titan fanart at the same time.

It really is one of the hardest questions to answer about a race, since we do get stuck asking questions about our own culture and have trouble defining patterns.

Domains

The domains are the building blocks of the world. They form both the physical world and the land of ideas and concepts. They are both the flame and the passion it represents.

Songs

image

Songs are spells, woven from the fabric of reality through the force of will and the harmony of existence. Producing fire from air, making smoke solid, and grasping the light of the stars in your palms, they are miracles created first by the deities, but then taught to the mortals who devoted themselves to a deity’s domain as aspects.
